Workshop Title: Making Your Mark!
Student Level – all
Description:
Join award winning artist Cathy Taylor for a unique and stimulating workshop guaranteed to expand your creativity no matter what your personal style. Beginners and experts alike are welcome.
In this workshop, participants will “conquer the fear of white paper” by exploring techniques for creating unusual and interesting patterns, textures, and special effects using a variety of surprising “tools”. Using common household materials, participant will expand their artistic repertoire by learning to create their own personal marks. These techniques may be used in collages, altered books, paintings and more. The morning will be spent in playful pandemonium; simply enjoying the process of mark making. In the afternoon, participants will create whimsical, frame able collages using cut and torn pieces of their messy morning masterpieces. Cathy’s contagious enthusiasm for water media and her engaging sense of humor create an atmosphere of joyful experimentation in which there are no mistakes, only happy accidents. Each session will begin with an entertaining demonstration followed by plenty of time to create with lots of one on one instruction.
