Printmaking Without a press!

Explore your creative potential with the spontaneous art process of monoprinting. A fun, extremely productive workshop for beginners and advanced art students, monoprinting will focus on methods and techniques for producing high quality prints without a press.

A monoprint is a single print created by transferring an image painted on a surface such as Plexiglas to paper. Monoprinting allows the artist to crate textures and surface effects that cannot be obtained by using a brush.

Each morning will begin with a really fun demonstration followed by lots of time to experiment. A large body of work will be produces in a short period of time with high levels of success even for beginners! Artists of all levels are welcome.

MATERIALS LIST

Water-based Speedball or Blick printing inks - 3 or more tubes of your favorite colors and one tube of black

Soft 4" brayer

Printmaking paper - several sheets of Rives lightweight, Stonehenge, or Strathmore Aquarius 90 lb.

Three Plexiglas plates...2"x3", 5"x7", 8"x10"

Palette knife

1 pad tracing paper

1 pad art paper, 8"x10" or 11"x14"

Apron, paper towels, water container

Scissors and/or exacto knife

Assorted brushes

Pencils

Magazines, copies of photos, pictures to copy

White artists tape or masking tape
