Special Effects in Water Media

Expand your possibilities! Special Effects in Water Media challenges the artist with fascinating techniques that will allow new dimensions for artistic expression. Participants will be introduced to cutting edge new materials (as well as some ways to incorporate surprisingly common materials) and methods to create fantastic textural painting surfaces. Each class will begin with an entertaining and informative demonstration followed by lots of time to paint and experiment.  Students should be have a good background in watermedia.

Materials List:

Illustration board - Crescent # 100 is good; 3 or 4 sheets

Watercolor paper - your favorites

Brushes - your favorites

Tubes; watercolor pigments - your favorites

Fluid acrylics - Golden brand is good. A red, blue & yellow (primaries) plus any others you want

Gesso - any brand, white and black

Matte GEL Medium - any brand, medium weight

Square adhesive spreader (hardware store) or old credit card

Household Materials needed:

scissors

exacto Knife

tissue papers and rice papers

dishwasher rinse aid

foam or plastic plates

paper cups

wax or candle

heavy duty aluminum foil

a roll contact paper - adhesive clear laminate

paper towels

crayons

watercolor or colored pencils

cup of sand

rubbing alcohol

table salt

drawing charcoal
